HDC’s initial funding campaign supported our start up activities & allowed us to offer 13 FREE PROGAMS in 2025 & 2026. Now we are ready to step into the next phase of growth.
Houston Design Collaborative was founded to spark cross-disciplinary conversations & advocacy around design, planning, development, fabrication, & construction in Greater Houston. Our vision is to build a vibrant and engaged design community!

Ismaili Center
Developed with the purpose of fostering pluralism, respect, and connection among people of different backgrounds and perspectives, the Ismaili Center is a place for civic dialogue, artistic expression, global problem solving, and human experience. Learn more at www.ismailicenter.org.
Attendees will enjoy a tour of this remarkable building, followed by a panel discussion with the builders and designers who made it a reality.

Stantec @ East End Maker Hub
The East End Maker Hub is a fabrication and light manufacturing space that provides TXRX and other Houston innovators with a state-of-the-art makerspace and manufacturing center, the opportunity to expand & scale operations & create positive economic impact for Houston’s East End residents. Stantec has recently expanded their fabrication center and materials lab into the EEMH.

Commodity Trading HQ | RO District
Designed around the concepts of contrast, inflection and flow, this workplace balances a focused environment with immersive destinations that encourage connection & recharge for users.
Our tour attendees experienced a thoughtful interior office environment complemented by an impressive art collection, and staff amenities both inside the space and on two outdoor terraces.

Travel Program | Northwest Arkansas
HDC’s inaugural destination program took a group of 28 travelers to NW Arkansas to experience the urban developments in Bentonville and Fayetteville, AK. The group toured project by Marlon Blackwell, The Walmart HW Campus, The University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture & Design, and several unique homes in the area along with an afternoon at Crystal Bridges Museum.

Young Professionals Event | Untitled Art Fair
A group experienced Untitled Art, Houston with brunch in the VIP Lounge and a tour with the show’s Director, Mr. Michael Slenske. The event feature 95 galleries from around the world, including 17 Texas-based galleries and positions Houston as a cultural gateway to Latin America and a growing hub in the international contemporary art scene.

House Calls | XO House
LO/JO Architecture
The XO House is a multigenerational live/work residence situated adjacent to White Oak Bayou and within the 500-year floodplain. Jason Logan – resident and designer – highlighted the features around the ground-floor “X” and the courtyard “O” create a massing that is porous in both plan and section, producing a house that is simultaneously inward and outward-looking.

Project Tour
MFAH | The Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation Center for Conservation
Tour participants experienced the new Center for Conservation with the MFAH’s Per Knutås & Christian Schörnich, and Larry Burns, FAIA, Kendall Heaton.
The Center will provide dedicated studios for the museums’ conservation efforts.
A lively happy hour followed the tour at MFAH | Le Jardinier and was sponsored by Bellows.

Young Professionals – Studio Tour Series
Menil Campus
HR Design Dept principals Heather Rowell and Eric Hughes, Brett Zamore Design and the Menil’s Mary Hohlt led a tour of current residential projects under construction across from the Menil Collection. Afterward, HDC Young Professionals hosted a happy hour on the Menil lawn.

The tour of Inman Gallery’s new location at 1502 Alabama Stree was led by Kerry Inman, DKA principal Dillion Kyle, and DKA associate designer Miranda Miramon. Happy Hour followed at Axelrad.

Project Tour | Sarofim Hall | Rice University
The new home for the Department of Art, in Rice University’s School of Humanities & Arts, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Jackson & Ryan (AOR), & built by Austin Commercial. It is a space designed to encourage collaboration — serving students in every medium and welcoming the Houston public for exhibitions, and collaborative events.

Victor Lundy – 103rd Birthday Celebration, Home Tour & Panel Discussion
The current owners – Daniel & Carol Price – welcomed HDC for a tour and discussion of Victor Lundy’s home/studio design and the challenges of preservation of this unique structure.

Young Professionals – Studio Tour Series
Aura Dwellings
Russel Hruska lead a tour of Aura Dwellings design and factory tour focused on prefab home construction and the group was treated to a happy hour in a demo model.
This series will continue and programs will explore Houston’s design & construction community. All are welcome.

The Uptown Memorial Park Trail & Bridge Project
Representatives from SWA Group and the Uptown District highlighted the Memorial Park Trail & Bridge project currently under construction.
The suspension bridge and elevated walk system will allow cyclists & pedestrians to enjoy the local park network, which includes Buffalo Bayou, the Houston Arboretum, and Memorial Park and the historic Archery Range site.

Lecture and Book Signing with Megan Kimble, author of City Limits
“In City Limits, journalist Megan Kimble weaves together the origins of urban highways with the stories of ordinary people impacted by our failed transportation system.”
Ms. Kimble explored her work and unique perspective during a lecture held at The MATCH.

Buffalo Bayou Partnership will transform Turkey Bend, a former barge terminal containing multiple warehouses and a dramatic wharf, into a vibrant recreational and cultural destination.
